Carmella Imig, MD
Dr. Carmella Imig was born and raised in rural Iowa. She attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha on a women's basketball scholarship and graduated in 1985. Dr. Imig worked in the medical field for several years prior to entering medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship. Carm graduated in 1993 with a Doctorate of Medicine Degree and completed a year of surgery residency training at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha. In 1994, Dr. Imig began active duty service in the United States Air Force. Dr. Imig served for two years as an emergency room physician at Maxwell AFB, Alabama and for two years as a Flight Surgeon at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. In 1998, she returned to civilian life. Dr. Imig completed her Family Practice training at Clarkson Family Medicine in Omaha in 2001.
Dr. Imig, her husband Jerry, and their son Zachary moved to Gretna in May 2001 in anticipation of opening their own family practice clinic in Gretna. The Wellness Place, P.C. opened in September 2001. Dr. Imig was the first full time physician in Gretna. She has been very active in the community. She served as the medical director at the local nursing home for three years and she continues to serve as the Gretna H.S. football sideline physician. Dr. Imig also volunteers to coach her son's sports teams. Carm also serves on the Gretna Days Committee. Her husband Jerry is also very active in the community. Jerry has served in coaching for youth baseball, basketball, and flag football. Jerry is serving a second term on the Gretna Area Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors. He is involved with the Gretna Days and Events Committees.
Dr. Imig'sspecial interests are in wellness and prevention and educating patients to stay healthy to prevent diseases from occurring. This takes teamwork in working with patients to achieve this. Dr. Imig takes time to listen to patient's concerns and helps them make informed choices for their healthcare.

Heather Othmer, APRN
Heather Othmer was born and raised on a dairy farm in southeast Nebraska. She earned her undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and her nursing diploma from Bryan School of Nursing. She worked for six years as an intensive care nurse. She received her master of science in nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2004. She received board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for family practice as a nurse practitioner. Heather is married to Bill Othmer, who is a division manager for Eastern Nebraska commercial applicator dealership sales for John Deere. Heather and Bill have 3 children - Breeanna, Laci, and William. Heather is privileged to stay home with her children during the week, and is honored to work with "The Wellness Place" families on Saturday mornings. As a nurse practitioner, Heather works in collaboration with Dr. Imig. |
